Before you pack up the car and head for the mountains, know that when we say mountains, we really mean it!

Downtown Bryson City has an elevation of 1,752 feet, so think of this as a starting point. The majority of our cabins will have a higher elevation than this. This means that our roads- both state and private- will be steeper, narrower, and curvier than you may be use to driving. Also, you should expect to encounter gravel roads. Consider it part of our rural mountain charm!

  Black Forrest Cabin-gorgeous view although the ride up the mountain is not for the faint of heart. But worth the ride. The cabin was clean and neat but my only complaint would be the cabin needs updating and the hallway rug had big stains on it which was not appealing. Overall we had a great vacation and views from the deck were outstanding! The stars at night were amazing.

  The house is dated and in need of drywall, baseboard and flooring repairs. Living room TV volume wouldn't work, and after troubleshooting it we discovered someone had turned off the TV speakers. Remote channel button didn't work, either. Bedroom TV did not work at all. Mattresses were too firm and uncomfortable.
  But we thoroughly enjoyed the view and the hot tub! Kitchen was pretty well stocked, but we couldn't find oven mitts. The house desperately needed a dusting - the lamp near the front door was caked in dust.

  We had great lil getaway...views incredible. Directions not clear to us but eventually made it! Older home, carpet/floors in really bad shape but not deal breaker for us. Our biggest issue was not clean... light fixture over table literally had dust falling off, dead bugs on floor and live ones crawling up the walls.

  The cabin is ok. It needs new carpets and flooring and a coat of paint. But its the view. My daughter did not want to stay when we first got there in a rain storm. But she woke me up at dawn. (at dawn with a seventeen year old!!!!!) She said "You have to see the colors. We dont have to leave." Its a new painting every minute. I still believe you need something bigger than a car to make it up to the cabin. We had a two wheel drive SUV. Dawn and sunset are totally worth it and the stars after dark are so clear.   Most vacationers during the winter look for warm weather. However, outdoor enthusiast who work in the heat year round look for mountain retreats and elevation to rekindle that adventurous soul. This trip did exactly what my entire family needed. Coming back every evening to a warm comfort cabin up the hill away from others was a perfect setting. Waking up looking at the Smokie Mountains was a spectacular was to start every day.

  Cabin fit our needs for the night. It was very, very clean but in serious need of maintenance. The carpet was very stained and damaged along with broken and stained furniture. Yellow Rose is absolutely amazing. When we couldn't find the cabin in the dark the on-call help even called us back to make sure we had found it! You don't often find service like that anymore!

  The privacy and amenities of this cabin were great . The hot tub was clean and well maintained . Our wonderful vacation to Bryson City was a bit overshadowed by the uncleanliness and disrepair of the cabin itself . We arrived to a dishwasher full of dirty dishes . The door to the closet encasing the washer and dryer fell onto my head as I walked by . Upon close inspection the track that held it in place was in total disrepair and unusable making the only option to stand the door against the washer dryer. As it turns out all closet doors were in disrepair with non functioning tracks . The window sills and blinds and tops of showers were dusty and grimy . The carpeting in the hallway was dirty and stained . The shower head in the downstairs bathroom was leaky and in disrepair . We loved the Bryson City /Cherokee area and the privacy of this cabin and plan to return most likely yearly to the area . Unfortunately, it is unlikely that we would rent from Yellow Rose again based on this experience.

  This place is worth it for the view alone. The hot tub on the deck is icing on the cake. While the beds were not the most comfortable, it did have everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We read other reviews before we booked so we knew it wasn't going to be 5 star accommodations, but it was perfect for us and our dogs. With that being said, the yard is very steep but we walked the dogs along the road which provided beautiful views. The location is remote, but just a short drive into Bryson City. We loved that it was close to so many great places to explore, but not crowded and touristy like Gatlinburg. Plenty of restaurants and stores to get you stocked up for your stay. We definitely plan to go back.

  What a beautiful view! Just the break we needed. No phone service or WiFi detached us from the world.
  Easy check in, check out.
  Cabin was a nice size. Fully equipped. Nice living room furniture.
  With COVID can’t really say if place was sanitized but we had our own Lysol, paper plates, coffee cups.
  Mattresses downstairs were not comfortable.
  No instructions for TV or fireplace. We wanted to use the fireplace which said “wood burning” in listing. However there were gas logs in place and a gas burner. We were afraid to use fireplace on last night and with no phone couldn’t reach out to manager. Ask about it before you get there.
  Some large spiders and other bugs prowled about inside. This is pretty normal when you are in the woods.
  If taking a dog really limited places to walk.
  Road going up was a little bit difficult but once we.got the hang of it piece of cake.
  Great Mexican restaurant heading out 19 towards Cherokee.
  There is a small waterfall at Deep Creek park right outside Bryson City. Park is beautiful.
  Nice to walk around Bryson City for a couple hours.
  Overall enjoyed our short time at Black Forest.

  This is a cute little cabin nestled way up on a mountain. I would recommend a few things to make it better. The decks need pressure washed, and the carpet needs replaced. I understand that it is pet friendly, so that's probably the carpet issue. The bed frame upstairs was falling apart, but we were able to fix it. There is no gas grill. The charcoal grill was falling apart,so we molded to grates together with foil to grill on. Don't get me wrong, we had a great time, so these were minor issues. The rental staff was great throughout the process.

  Overall it was a quant house. The refrigerator was leaking water on the floor. We called to report it on arrival and Maintenance never showed up. Out of 6 floodlights, only 2 worked. Lights throughout the house were blown. Hornet nest on each side of hot tub. Overhead fan above stove was not working. No teaspoons in kitchen. Closet doors need to be fixed to close. No lamp in downstairs bedroom. Bed in loft fell apart. Charcoal grill was broken and hardly useable. Grill rack was rusted and not cleaned out.

  We enjoyed the beautiful views from the cottage, and we appreciated being able to take our dog. We have some suggestions for improving the experience: Be sure that renters are aware of how isolated the cottage is. With no WiFi and limited cell phone service, we felt a bit uneasy. Also, the roads up to the house were far more challenging than we expected. The carpets in the house desperately need cleaning. The kitchen was not well equipped--no pot holders and only two cereal bowls--no teaspoons. The hot tub is only minimally useful--the jets are so weak that we barely felt the water move.

  My wife and I rented the cabin for a weekend getaway. We chose this cabin mostly for the views and it did not disappoint.
  
  However, as others have noted, the cabin itself was disappointing and really needs some minor updating and maintenance. My wife would occasionally make comments about something needing attention and I had to keep reminding her that this was not someone's home, it was someone's investment. We spent most of our time outside the cabin (on the deck, going downtown, hiking, shopping, etc.) so this was not a big issue for us.
  
  Overall, we came for the views and left satisfied. The management company was great to work with; we would certainly rent from them again, and we would consider this property as well. If you want 5-star views and are OK with a 3-star cabin, this is a great option.

  The property was a little more challenging to get to than I thought it would be, but worth the effort. I wish there had been a couple of upgrades, especially in the bathrooms. Maybe upgrade to a 24” vanity that is taller. A more modern toilet would also be a worthwhile investment. The shower had what looked like mold in the crevasses. My dog came out of the brush with a bag of rat poison and thankfully I got it away before she ingested any. NOT GOOD! We all had wonderful stay other than the aforementioned suggestions. Probably won’t rent this one again. 🥴

  This property is built on a mountain side, and the view is truly spectacular. There is a wall of windows facing the mountains, and I could sit for hours and just enjoy the scenery. The downside is that there is no WIFI and I had minimal cell phone reception, so I was unable to use my phone as a hotspot. Be aware that the road up the mountain is steep, gravel and only wide enough for one vehicle, so it is not for the timid. The house sits on 5 acres, so there is privacy. However, the 5 acres are mostly vertical with minimal walkable area around the house, which is good to know if you are planning on bringing a dog.
