Before you pack up the car and head for the mountains, know that when we say mountains, we really mean it!

Downtown Bryson City has an elevation of 1,752 feet, so think of this as a starting point. The majority of our cabins will have a higher elevation than this. This means that our roads- both state and private- will be steeper, narrower, and curvier than you may be use to driving. Also, you should expect to encounter gravel roads. Consider it part of our rural mountain charm!

  My family really enjoyed this cabin. The cabin was super clean and felt very cozy. It was very relaxing watching and hearing the river as it flows by. The location was top notch for us. We were about 25 minutes from Western Carolina for an on campus visit for my son. Bryson City is 10 minutes west with plenty of dining options and a quaint little downtown area. Harrah's Cherokee is 10 minutes east.

  We had a fun time on our weekend trip. There were four adults and three small dogs. The cabin living area is small as is the kitchen but the two bedrooms and bathrooms are a good size. The second bedroom is over the garage and the door to go up is on the screened in porch connected to the garage which is different but it works. The second bedroom is basically an efficiency unit with its own couch, table, and kitchenette. The cabin overall is clean and pest free but definitely dated and could use some sprucing up. The kitchen stove is tiny but works. The oven knob is missing so it’s a guess as to what temp it’s set on. The kitchen is stocked for some basic cooking needs. The washer is missing the knob as well so that was a challenge. It’s a great location in front of the river with a screened in porch to listen and enjoy the water. The rental service was helpful. We did have to call for maintenance because the TV wasn’t working. He showed up quickly and got it fixed.

  We enjoyed this rental property very much. We are looking forward to coming to this cabin again. If you like to fish you will love this place.
  
  There were a couple issues. The microwave downstairs didn’t work and the screens on the porch need some. There weren’t many kitchen utensils.
  
  If you are a timid driver then the road to the cabin might be an issue. It’s only one lane and very steep at the top.

  Cabin was beautiful, had some minor maintenance quirks, but overall a wonderful little cabin. Location was wonderful. Elk came right up in the yard, had fun chasing fireflys with the kids, and caught a few trout right in front of the house.

  We loved our visit to this cabin. Getting to the upstairs unit was a bit confusing but we figured it out quickly. The cabin had everything we needed and was very clean. Our only complaint would be the neighbors dog was never leashed or in a fence and would chase our vehicle when we would come or go. I was very worries about hitting it. We would still definitely return here.

  We stayed at King's River Cabin for a dudes only weekend. My son, son-in-law, 2 grandsons and myself enjoyed our time in the area. The cabin is half way between Bryson City and Cherokee and was in a great spot on the river. We were mostly satisfied with the cabin but would not have been if ladies had been present. It was not the cleanest cabin I have stayed in. They needed a manual to tell you how to use some things such as TV's in the bedrooms. Also, there were a few things that did not work such as Washing Machine and microwave in the main kitchen. The knob was missing on the oven which made it guesswork to temperature. Someone had burned plastic or something on the stovetop which wasn't a big deal but would have been if there had been ladies present. It was a fine place for a bunch of guys but not sure about families.

  Overall the stay was nice. Only problems at the Cabin were, it wasn't clean, just tidied up a bit. The Grill needs replacing. And most kitchen appliances need to be updated, (the oven/stove) is just bad. The place was nice overall. Enjoyed all around us, Fire pit was awesome. Neighbors were extremely friendly. The Cabin itself was very nice. I just have those few critiques. Otherwise all was great. Thank you for having us. might do this again.

  Once we found it lol, there wasn't a road sign. But after speaking with the manager a couple of times we were able to find our way. Our visit was very relaxing. We spent most of our time outdoors and it was beautiful! I wished though that the grass had been mowed. However the inside was clean and comfortable. We didn't have outside trash bags to place our trash in which was required according to what I read, but we had minimal trash so I think we are ok.
  While we were looking for the cabin we saw Elk which always excites me. We ate at the Everett Street Cafe' for breakfast which was really good. We went to Cherokee and had lunch at Paul's the next day which is always good. I really enjoyed our mini vacay.

  The cabin was beautifully situated on the Oconaluftee River in the Ela community, just past the dam. Couldn't ask for a nicer setting but had a few observations.
  
  Some of the appliances in the cabin didn't work or work properly. The oven temp dial was loose so it was guesswork figuring out the setting for our pizza. The large burner ring also did not work. There were no ice trays in the cabinets.
  
  The upstairs heaters didn't work properly and the TV screen was broken and it didn't work. There was no WiFi on the property but there was DISH satellite.
  
  The other problems I had were with the directions from the rental agency. Now, I did call about the WiFi on the weekend and the lady who answered was extremely nice and helpful. However, I would suggest putting a little more into the instructions for each property instead of a one-size-fits-all. There was no trash pick-up at our cabin but no instructions on where I might dump 3 bags of trash upon departure. I had to look up the Jackson Co. landfill. It wouldn't kill you to put that information in there. Also, I wasn't sure if both ends of the driveway were OK to use but making a right turn out of the one by the river will kill the bottom of your car and is borderline dangerous on the curve. Same for making a left turn into the river-side entrance.
  
  Just a few observations on how to make the experience better that won't cost anything.
  
  Finally, lots of dog poop in the front yard, so beware!

  I loved the location and the set up of thw cabin. The gas logs weren't working properly and someone did come out but never came back the next day. The tv upstairs had a bad place like someone threw something at it so made it hard to watch tv. I was going to make them aware of it but like I said they never come back. I would recommend new mattresses, they were very hard and not comfortable to sleep on but overall we had an amazing stay.

  For a weekend stay, it was wonderful! I wish we could have stayed longer. Everything was to be expected, and clean. Downtown Bryson City was just a few minutes one way, and Cherokee also right down the road. We will defiantly be staying again.

  Had a great time at King's River Cabin. There were four of us on this trip (2 couples) so it was really nice having the upstairs "apartment" along with the house. Everyone had their own space. We enjoyed everything about this cabin. The location is great and it's nice and quiet. Would definitely rent again in the future.

  We loved the rental - cabin well decorated and ver much like being at home. Outside area very serene and well maintained. It was just hard to find with the directions. The “Dam” road needs a road sign - I went across the bridge instead of seeing the dirt road up further on the hill. Finding the location was my only complaint on the entire stay.
