Ol'Smoky Log Cabin on the River Unit 2

Our log cabins are located on the Cherokee Indian Reservation, which is adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; the most visited National Park in America. This part of Western North Carolina offers beautiful scenery with it's majestic mountains, crystal clear streams and rivers, waterfalls, hiking trails and more.
Each of our log cabins has a full front porch just a few feet away from the Oconaluftee River, which offers some of the best trout fishing around. This river is stocked twice a week with brown and rainbow trout. Fly fishermen can enjoy the “catch and release” waters with trophy sized fish just minutes away…so don’t forget your fishing gear!!! This river also provides a great place for rafting, tubing, and even swimming.

We're easy to get to and our location is great. We're 1/8 of a mile from the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, yet we're about the same distance to shopping, restaurants and more. We're 1 mile from the Outdoor Drama, Cherokee Museum and the Oconaluftee Indian Village. Feel lucky? We're only 2 miles from Cherokee Harrah's Casino.

We consider our cabins to be semi-secluded. You're not way back in the woods, yet you're not in the middle of town. We have 6 log cabins lining the riverbank. The view across the river is forest land with no development. The cabins are separated by full deck areas, 8-15 feet in size. The back of the cabins are about 50 feet from Big Cove Road, which is a local side road with low to moderate traffic. We believe you'll find the setting peaceful and enjoyable.

As you can tell, we can offer you an action packed vacation, or you can relax in your rocking chair and watch the river flow by, it's up to you!

Before you pack up the car and head for the mountains, know that when we say mountains, we really mean it!

Downtown Bryson City has an elevation of 1,752 feet, so think of this as a starting point. The majority of our cabins will have a higher elevation than this. This means that our roads- both state and private- will be steeper, narrower, and curvier than you may be use to driving. Also, you should expect to encounter gravel roads. Consider it part of our rural mountain charm!

  The cabin was very sweet. It is extremely convenient, within a few miles, to the main attractions. Nice view in back right on the river. Some of the material sent talked about a jaquzzi which I misinterpreted to mean there was one, but no jaquizzi. We went in mid-March which is off season and a lot of attractions not open.   Had a great time. Perfect cabin for 2 men roughing it. Took my son-in-law to Cherokee for a fishing trip. This cabin is in a great location. Right on the river. But it is small and in rough shape. It needs TLC and could be much better. Last renter was a smoker so cabin stunk for first 2 days. Caught a lot of trout so good trip overall. Yellow Rose was very professional and I highly recommend them.

  This was my first experience with Ol' Smoky Log Cabins and Yellow Rose. We chose these cabins for their location (mainly proximity to the park). There are shops, restaurants and entertainment within minutes, and a good grocery store less than 10 minutes away. The Oconaluftee River is the backyard, and the Oconaluftee Visitor Center in the park is about 3 minutes.
  
  Our cabin was rustic; but clean and comfortable. The beds were fine, water pressure in the shower was great, and the kitchen was ok for cooking for two or three. Appliances were fine, not much counter space.
  
  We enjoyed the fireplace, wished the couch was a little more comfortable and wondered why there was no coffee table. The tv was old school, got an ok selection of channels, and had a little static on most of them. There is no wi-fi.
  
  The back porch and deck area were great for morning coffee and any time we wanted to relax near the river.
  
  If you're looking for a great home base to use for exploring the park, hiking or fishing; then this is a strong contender.
  
  We will be back.
