Ol'Smoky Log Cabin on the River Unit 3

Our log cabins are located on the Cherokee Indian Reservation, which is adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; the most visited National Park in America. This part of Western North Carolina offers beautiful scenery with it's majestic mountains, crystal clear streams and rivers, waterfalls, hiking trails and more.

Each of our log cabins has a full front porch just a few feet away from the Oconaluftee River, which offers some of the best trout fishing around. This river is stocked twice a week with brown and rainbow trout. Fly fishermen can enjoy the “catch and release” waters with trophy sized fish just minutes away…so don’t forget your fishing gear!!! This river also provides a great place for rafting, tubing, and even swimming.

We're easy to get to and our location is great. We're 1/8 of a mile from the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, yet we're about the same distance to shopping, restaurants and more. We're 1 mile from the Outdoor Drama, Cherokee Museum and the Oconaluftee Indian Village. Feel lucky? We're only 2 miles from Cherokee Harrah's Casino.

We consider our cabins to be semi-secluded. You're not way back in the woods, yet you're not in the middle of town. We have 6 log cabins lining the riverbank. The view across the river is forest land with no development. The cabins are separated by full deck areas, 8-15 feet in size. The back of the cabins are about 50 feet from Big Cove Road, which is a local side road with low to moderate traffic. We believe you'll find the setting peaceful and enjoyable.

As you can tell, we can offer you an action packed vacation, or you can relax in your rocking chair and watch the river flow by, it's up to you!

Before you pack up the car and head for the mountains, know that when we say mountains, we really mean it!

Downtown Bryson City has an elevation of 1,752 feet, so think of this as a starting point. The majority of our cabins will have a higher elevation than this. This means that our roads- both state and private- will be steeper, narrower, and curvier than you may be use to driving. Also, you should expect to encounter gravel roads. Consider it part of our rural mountain charm!

  Our recent stay in Unit 3 was great. The cabin was as described, and the location was fabulous. We really enjoyed staying on the river!
  The property was clean and well-maintained, but I would have liked a light over the sink / stove area. it was very hard to cook with the current lighting. Also, the pans and spatula provided for cooking were sub par. No, this would not deter me from staying at Ol' Smoky Log Cabin again, because it is all about the location, location, location! It is central to the golfing, restaurants, and driving through the beautiful mountains! Thank you, Ol' Smoky Log Cabins!

  The cabin was clean and what we expected and we really enjoyed the deck to overlook the water. The only thing I had a problem with was all the rules that you had. I was afraid of being charged for anything that I did that might break a rule. Other than that we had a good time and probably will come back in the future.

  The first night was pretty rough as there were a group of men staying in the cabin next to us that were extremely loud playing heavy metal music and drinking to excess keeping us awake.
  The second day was much better it was a Monday and they checked out .
  My husband and I did some sightseeing and came back to a quiet cabin that we enjoyed our time considering the whole point of our trip was to unplug from the outside world.
  There was some street noise but it was bearable.
  Would have liked to stay an extra day since we were so stressed out about the first night.
  We loved the River and are already planning another trip to Cherokee
  Maybe somewhere less noisy.

  For what we needed this trip this property was ok. We spent two nights any longer we would have been to crowded. We only used the downstairs.   Absolutely loved our stay. The cabin was very quaint and nice. The kids loved going on the porch/deck area. We didn’t use the fireplace but it looked so cozy. Great location for our visit, elk viewing. Only a few minutes drive to see the elk grazing in the fields. We are already planning our next trip. No WiFi kinda sucked for the teenager, but we made do.

  We love the Oke Smoky cabins! Spend a long weekend there with friends. We rented three cabins and relaxed, floated down the Luftee, played games and more. The cabins aren’t fancy but were perfect for us. The best tubing with little rapids and flowing water right out the back door!!!   A pleasant ending to what began as a nightmare rental. We had to evacuate our first rental through a different company. Last minute Yellow Rose Real Estate found us this little gem. It was clean, safe, and right along the river. We finally got relaxation. The price was fair for the cabin. Location was great. Close to a anything you would need. Only possible negative would be the bed. We slept but not without some tossing.

  When we first arrived we were a little hesitant, when I walked in the first thing I noticed is that there was a note about no wifi then looked for the heat which I found in each room as electric in the wall. They worked well surprisingly. The electronic door lock stop working on the the last day. All in all the cabin worked out good for us. Would stay again in the future.

  We just came home from a week in Cherokee at the Ol' Smokey Cabins on Big Cove Road.We had a wonderful time . The cabin was ok but there were a few things that would have improved the trip.The mattress downstairs was ok but could have been better. The mattresses upstairs are in need of being replaced. The kitchen needs a light over the sink. It is hard cooking in your own shadow. The trees along the river would have been nice if trimmed a little. It was hard to fish from the bank the other cabins had better access to the river. I am sure we will stay here again just a few suggustions to making it a little better.   Cabin 3 is a great place to stay. It’s right on the river so you can sit in the covered porch or at the picnic table and just let your mind be at ease. The one thing I loved is it is pet friendly so we could bring along our dog Oreo. Location is just a short walk from some of the shops on Big Cove Road. If you are coming up to trout fish, this would be a great place to stay at. I recommend you staying here, the cabin is clean and stocked well with enough towels/wash clothes for the visit. Only one thing I didn’t like and that’s the fees and taxes. We could have stayed another night with what we paid in those.
