Ol'Smoky Log Cabin on the River Unit 4

Our log cabins are located on the Cherokee Indian Reservation, which is adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; the most visited National Park in America. This part of Western North Carolina offers beautiful scenery with it's majestic mountains, crystal clear streams and rivers, waterfalls, hiking trails and more.

Each of our log cabins has a full front porch just a few feet away from the Oconaluftee River, which offers some of the best trout fishing around. This river is stocked twice a week with brown and rainbow trout. Fly fishermen can enjoy the “catch and release” waters with trophy sized fish just minutes away…so don’t forget your fishing gear!!! This river also provides a great place for rafting, tubing, and even swimming.

We're easy to get to and our location is great. We're 1/8 of a mile from the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, yet we're about the same distance to shopping, restaurants and more. We're 1 mile from the Outdoor Drama, Cherokee Museum and the Oconaluftee Indian Village. Feel lucky? We're only 2 miles from Cherokee Harrah's Casino.

We consider our cabins to be semi-secluded. You're not way back in the woods, yet you're not in the middle of town. We have 6 log cabins lining the riverbank. The view across the river is forest land with no development. The cabins are separated by full deck areas, 8-15 feet in size. The back of the cabins are about 50 feet from Big Cove Road, which is a local side road with low to moderate traffic. We believe you'll find the setting peaceful and enjoyable.

As you can tell, we can offer you an action packed vacation, or you can relax in your rocking chair and watch the river flow by, it's up to you!

Before you pack up the car and head for the mountains, know that when we say mountains, we really mean it!

Downtown Bryson City has an elevation of 1,752 feet, so think of this as a starting point. The majority of our cabins will have a higher elevation than this. This means that our roads- both state and private- will be steeper, narrower, and curvier than you may be use to driving. Also, you should expect to encounter gravel roads. Consider it part of our rural mountain charm!

  Overall nice stay. The cabin was actually very nice. Even though next door to other cabins the privacy was very good. Love the river right behind the cabin. Nice mornings and evenings on the back porch. If I had any requests to make the stay better it would be an additional AC unit in the bedroom (or central air- because cooking heated up the cabin and we had to sleep with bedroom door open to keep cool). And maybe 1-2 ceiling fans added to back porch. It really was a cozy cabin and suited our vacation well. Regardless of AC unit and ceiling fans we will definitely stay again and bring fishing rods. Able to get into river and play so very well rounded stay.

  Cabin was clean. Was walking distance to shops,entertainment, and dining. Close to the river which made my husband and step son happy for fishing. My only problem was there is no washing machine or dryer, which made it where we had to go to a wash house to do laundry. We will stay here again but just wish they had washing machine and dryer.

  We rented 4 of the Ol Smoky Log Cabins (3-6) so each family could have their own cabin. It was the perfect location for visiting Cherokee. You could not ask for better. We could fish right out back, swim in the river, look for crawfish, and even walk up the road to put our tubes in the river and float back down to our cabin to get out. There is a Food Lion about 5 minutes away and shops all around. It is not in the middle of the woods or anything, which I enjoyed. It is seconds from the town and minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. We saw elk crossing the road, in the river, and grazing by the Blue Ridge Parkway welcome center. We also saw an otter by our cabin! The cabins are simple, nothing fancy. They are dark inside and you can sleep late if you desire due to the curtains that block all sun. That was actually very nice. You can hear people moving around everywhere and can hear from the bathroom to the kitchen due to the walls and how they were structured, but that didn't bother us either. We stayed for a week and so reused the 12 towels they left for us (6 of us in the cabin and no washer-dryer). We had to replenish toilet paper, dish soap, and trash bags. So be prepared if you are a large family like ours staying for a week. We also bought small baking pans, mixing bowls, and serving spoons/spatulas as there wasn't any of that. We found each cabin had different things. We just stopped at the Dollar Store in Sylva and got them for the week. We did have a toaster, microwave, very small oven (but it worked no problem!), and some basic pans and small pots. Beware of the refrigerator slightly freezing items in the back as well. Just come prepared with what you'll need. The beds were comfortable, too! We had the other families over for dinner on the porch as we grilled. Very easy check-in/out process! I would absolutely recommend this place!

  Though it wasn't the cabin we rented, due to snow our cabin you could not get to. They were able to find this cabin for only 2 nights, not our 4 nights. Location was amazing right on the river. TV could use an update. Rooms, beds, fireplace were great!
