Mitchell Cabin

Mitchel Cabin, built in 1870 by William Butler Garrett and lovingly restored log-by-log by his great-great-granddaughter and family—who meticulously marked, moved, and reconstructed the original structure—this historic 1-bedroom, 1-bath farmhouse cottage directly connects guests to rich local family heritage. Passing through generations to Garrett's great-grandson, Dr. William E. Mitchell, the home now seamlessly pairs authentic 19th-century logs with modern comforts, featuring an open-concept living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, a full bath, and a queen bedroom. Outside, a covered porch, fire pit, and picnic area overlook a gorgeous mountain farm setting, offering a private couples' getaway just minutes from downtown Bryson City.

Amenities Provided: Cabins include basic linens, kitchenware, and a starter supply of paper products and toiletries. Guests are responsible for additional supplies.

o Minimum Age: Minimum age to rent is 25
o Pet Policy: This cabin is not pet-friendly. Undisclosed or unauthorized pets are subject to a $300 fee, per pet.
o Wi-Fi: This cabin includes Wi-Fi for your convenience. Please keep in mind that mountain weather can occasionally cause brief service interruptions. Wi-Fi is always available at our office and throughout downtown.
o Concierge Services: Grocery delivery, celebration packages, early check in/late check out. Additional fees apply. Based on availability and cleaning schedule.

  The Mitchell Cabin is in a quiet location that is close to the town of Bryson City. The cabin is immaculate and has many amenities. The kitchen is well equipped. The bed is comfortable and updated inside. The HVAC unit works great.
  The view from the front porch is awesome. You can watch the baby goats in the distance (you do not smell the farm or the goats). And some evenings, there was beautiful sunset.
  We highly recommend staying at the Mitchell Cabin.

  We came from Texas to see the Autumn leaves change and boy what a perfect setting the Mitchell Cabin provided. Not only was the cabin beautifully designed and decorated, it was sparklingly clean. The view from the front porch was idyllic, a small farm, pasture and a flock of goats. We could wake up everyday to that peaceful scene. We just wish we could have stayed another day!!

  This house was not where we originally planned on staying, but with a mix up, by me, on reservations, Dena suggested this one and man was it a great choice. It was so classic and relaxing. So much thought went into this place to make it comfortable and private. It was close enough to town to be convenient and man did we enjoy our stay!! This place begs for us to return.   I really enjoyed my stay at the Mitchell Cabin. The location is fantastic for exploring Bryson City and the Great Smoky Mountains. The cabin was easy to find and is across the road from the owners goat farm. There is a grocery store about 10 minutes away. I came to hike and found several amazing trails of various difficulty, all within a 30 minute drive.
  The cabin is very clean, has wifi and modern appliances, is historical and decorated nicely. You can tell how much love went into the renovation of this family cabin. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had plenty of pressure and hot water. Although there was a nice fire pit out back, I didn't get to use it because of rain. My only complaint is that the wood burning fireplace has been replaced with a gas fireplace. Although there were no instructions on how to start it, I called Yellow Rose and the owners came over and showed me immediately. I enjoyed getting to meet them and get some more history on the cabin. Great customer service. The big downside is that the new gas fireplace heats up the house so much in such a short amount of time, that you almost can't even use it. I would have preferred the original wood burning fireplace, but understand why the owners would want to change it. Overall this was a fantastic stay and I highly recommend staying here!

  It feels so far away but so close to everything. The decor is adorable and very very clean. The only complaint I have was the bed is very hard. We could not figure out how to turn the volume down on the tv. Appeared a controller was missing. We will stay again.
